RONALD (RON) HEDLEY HALL

After a lengthy illness, Ron Hall of Gimli, MB, passed away in the early morning of May 17, 2026, at the Middlechurch Home of Winnipeg under the wonderful care of the many nurses, doctors and aides on the B1 ward. Ron was 93 years old at the time of passing.

Ron was born September 9, 1932, in Rotherham, South Yorkshire, England. He immigrated to Canada in 1953. He later joined the RCAF and while stationed at CFB Comox, he met his wife, Diane (d. 2019). They married in Bellingham, Washington, on September 21,1957. Ron and Diane were posted to NATO base Marville, in northern France where they were stationed until mid-1962. They were then posted to CFB Bagotville from 1962 to 1965. They eventually ended up at CFB Gimli in early 1966. They remained there until the base closed down in 1972. Ron retired from the military and started his own business, Hall’s Appliances and Repairs and was operating until 2007 when he retired.

Ron is survived by five of seven of his children, Martyn (Bobbi), Kathryn (Alvin), Carolyn (Pasquale), Kristina (Kevin) and Darlene (Gary). Sadly, he was predeceased by Michelle (1958-1984) and Raymond (1960). He has nine grandchildren, David, Veronica, Suzanne, Adam, Elena, Giselle, Nicolas, Scott and Madalyn. He also has five great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister Pauline (Peter) and family in Cleethorpes, England.

Ron was involved in many community groups in Gimli including the Royal Canadian Legion and the Rotary Club and was involved in the development and initial operation of the Gimli Glider Museum. In his later years he enjoyed reading to the children at the elementary school.

There will be a private interment at a later date.
